Moe’s mother loved cooking and often invited people over to their home for parties. Ever since Moe was little, she enjoyed stealing bits of food beside her cooking mother.

Making traditional Japanese meals with her mother and grandmother, especially during the new years is one of her earliest memories involving food. Even now, she learns and carries on her family recipes because of those memories in the kitchen

Moe’s first profession was one of Maiko, a junior Gesha.

She always had a love for the traditional Japanese world because her grandfather worked in the Kimono industry. At the age of 16, she had a chance to study the traditional professions of Kyoto while she was in high school, leading her to become a Maiko and then Geiko (Geisha) in Gion, Kyoto.

Moe started her YouTube channel, showcasing the unique intersections of her identity and interests - kimono and cooking. What first started as a way to overcome her postpartum depression by connecting with others online, she quickly gained traction by introducing Japanese home cooking to an international audience, stealing millions of hearts

Moe is trying to spread Japanese home cooking to the world from her kitchen. She introduces recipes that are easy to prepare for those who ie outside of Japan. It is her greatest joy to see people from various countries trying to make the Kimono Mom’s recipes.
